Remand Prisoners’ Specific Needs: A Systematic Review

Remand prisoners (RP) are non-sentenced individuals who must be held in prison awaiting sentencing. The international data reported that up to a third of the detainees worldwide pre-trial situation. present systematic review aims studies assessed remand prisoners’ mental problems during detention. Following PICO strategy, search identified total 5427 studies, which, 79 were included final analysis. Substance use disorders most problem, followed by mood disorders, psychotic and personality behavior disorders. A smaller number anxiety neurotic posttraumatic stress disorder adjustment intellectual paraphilias sexual attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive–compulsive eating somatoform Our findings contribute scientific knowledge about this group inmates’ needs, emphasizing prevalence within population supporting both professionals academics reform policies practices.
